High waisted, black, £18.99, and stocked in every size from XS through to XXL. Biker shorts stopped being only gym kit some time ago, and this pair reflects that: they go to a class and then stay on for the school run, the shop and the rest of the day.
It is made from polyamide with elastane. Polyamide takes the wear and dries off at a fair pace, which is what you want from something that goes in the machine as often as training kit does. The elastane is the part that gives, so the fabric stretches on and eases back afterwards.
Black is the only colour here, which reduces the decision to size alone. All six sizes are carried, so there is no trading off the shade you wanted against the size you need, and no waiting for a gap in the run to be filled.
As for which size, your usual in a fitted short is the place to start. Nothing about the cut is recorded beyond the high waist in the name, so if you are caught between two, order the one you know and let the fit tell you the rest. They are worn on their own, under a dress, or beneath a longer top, and they are equally at home in a gym class or on a walk.
Black stays black if you keep the wash cool and turn them inside out with similar shades. Skip the softener, which is the one thing in the cupboard a stretch fabric is better off without. Dry them flat or on a line; the heat of a machine is what a stretch fabric likes least.
