Six colours, two fabrics and a size run from XS to XXL. These are the shorts you buy for the Tuesday and Thursday sessions rather than for match day, and at £15.99 they are priced to be replaced when they finally wear through. Which fabric you get depends on the option you choose. The polyester ones dry quickly and cope with being worn twice in a week, which suits winter training when nothing gets a chance to air. The cotton ones are softer against the skin and breathe well, and tend to be the choice for warm evenings or for anyone who would rather not train in synthetics. The colours cover a normal team palette: green, blue, red, orange, yellow and white. Two shades are enough to split a squad without reaching for bibs. There are twenty-two variants across six colours, six sizes and two fabrics, so this is a long way from a full grid; if you are ordering for a group, check each combination as you go rather than assuming it is all there. They are named for football and that is where most of them end up, but five-a-side, running, circuits and ordinary gym work all get the same pair. The two fabrics want slightly different treatment. Both go in on a cool wash with similar colours and both come out to dry naturally rather than in a hot tumble, though the cotton pair will take longer to get there than the polyester.
