Once sparring starts, head protection stops being optional. This is the plain, practical sort of guard — meant for boxing and MMA training sessions rather than for show, and sold in a single standard size for men and women. It is made from PU leather. As synthetics go it is a hard-wearing one: it copes with the scuffing that comes from regular gym use, it does not soak up sweat the way fabric does, and it cleans up with a damp cloth in a few seconds at the end of a session. That last point matters more than people expect, because kit that lives unwiped in the bottom of a gym bag tends not to stay pleasant for long. There is one colour, a straight blue, and one size, listed simply as Standard. A single size is worth a thought before you order. It will be fine for most people training at a club, but if you already know you are awkward to fit for hats and helmets, factor that in rather than hoping. There is no smaller or larger option to fall back on here. Care is about as simple as kit gets. Wipe it down after training rather than putting it anywhere near a washing machine, let it dry naturally instead of on a radiator or in direct sun, and store it somewhere it can air out properly between sessions.
