The bottom half of the Basic Rashguard pairing: plain black, the same 80% polyester and 20% elastane blend as the shirt, made as a short for mat work. Grappling shorts are worn close for a reason. Loose fabric gives an opponent something to take hold of and rides up the moment you are on the floor, so the elastane here is doing real work. It lets the short move with a sprawl or a guard pass and then come back to shape, "while the polyester side of the blend gets them dry again quickly" — the drying claim stands on its own., which is the difference between a clean pair on Thursday and a damp one. Sizes go from S to XXL and all five are in stock, in black only, so nothing is decided for you by what happens to be left. Take the size you normally wear if you want the close fit these are built around; if you are between two, the smaller feels firmer and the larger gives you a bit more room through the thigh. They are made for no-gi, MMA and wrestling classes, worn on their own or under fight shorts if that is what your club prefers. Plenty of people also use them as an ordinary base layer for running or the gym floor, which is a fair second life for them. Wash them cool with similar colours. Leave the fabric softener in the cupboard, since it dulls stretch fabric and slows the drying, and let them dry in the air rather than on heat.
